Contact: What's a good underwater shot without good prosthetics?

When creating scary monsters and decaying bodies for underwater scenes the prosthetics people need to remember the Golden Rule of Buoyancy. Materials that are less dense than water will float. Make your prosthetic creatures out of materials that are as close to the density of water as possible (i.e. 62 lbs per cubic foot). If that is not possible make sure you design your prosthetic device with a secure cavity that will accommodate enough lead to sink the device. Keep in mind that you may want the lead evenly distributed throughout the body to maintain a realistic posture or orientation. If you are making something like a large horse make sure you can safely insert enough lead to sink the animal and have it look real.

Another factor for prosthetics people to keep in mind is how the prosthetic responds to the forces acting on it as it is dragged through the water. You must be certain that the prosthetic device stays together as the divers pull it underwater and place it in the set. Somebody will get embarrassed if the body's head comes off and shoots up to the surface. Wigs and clothing must be firmly attached so they don't suffer the same fate.
